dr. Peter Felkai PhD.

dr. Felkai born in Budapest, in 1952.  After finishing the Medical University, he worked for the National Emergency Service, as an emergency physician. He got his postgraduate degree from intensive-anesthesiology, and he was appointed the physician-in-chief of the Intensive Department of Laszlo Hospital (hospital for contangious diseases) in Budapest, in 1987.

He wrote a textbook on the neonatal emergency transportation and another of the emergency treatment in the dental surgeon’s office. He was the author of more than 200 articles on the different aspect of the emergency treatment. He was nominated in 1988 as a scholar of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

In 1989, when the political situation made it possible, he founded the first private emergency ambulance service in Hungary, the SOS Hungary. He has been the medical director of that Service since 1990.

He obtained the medical manager diploma in 1992 and the medico-legal diploma in 2003.

He founded the travel medicine, as a separate medical specialty in Hungary in 2004. The travel medicine was accepted as a part of the skill of insurance medicine’s postgraduate degree. Dr. Felkai was elected as a chairman of the travel insurance session of the MÉBOT (Association of the Hungarian Life Insurance Physicians) in 2005.

He is the correspondent author of more than 20 articles on travel medicine topic. In 2006 he was the author of the
first travel medicine textbook in Hungary, and in the year 2007 he founded the „Club of Winter sport medicine and extreme sport medicine Doctor’s Club, and elected as a Chairman of the Club. In this year he issued the
Pocketbook of the ski-doctors”.

He regained the PhD degree in 2008 on the topic of travel medicine.

He was appointed as a National Secretary of SITEMSH (Societe Internationale de Traumatologie et Medicine des Sports d’Hiver International Society for Skiing Safety and Winter Sports Medicine) to Hungary in 2008.

Dr. Felkai is the lecturer of travel medicine at some Medical University in 2009, and he also introduced the travel medicine topic into the pharmacists' postgraduate education. For this purpose, the
"Textbook of Travel Medicine for Pharmacists" has been issued. For the sake of better prevention of medical problems of traveler he wrote the "Pocket doctor for Travelers" in 2010.
