Medical Services / Home Visit

In Hungary the health-care system is somewhat remote from the other countries’. The majority of Hungarian hospitals do not have clinical wards for all medical specialties, even today. Hospitals do not have emergency wards, neither reception facility. Establishing an initial diagnosis, which would facilitate the choice of a hospital with a suitable clinical ward, remained the everyday task of our doctors.  Moreover, in the case of emergency treatment (as a trauma) the hospitals are in rotating duty system in Budapest. That’s why - besides the language barrier - there is no means to go directly to the hospital - the patient has to find an English-speaking doctor there, and it might be suggested that he go to another facility. Therefore the patients do better to call up SOS Alarmcentre.

Our English speaking doctor visits you at home

When our patient  calls our Alarmcentre and requires a medical visit, our doctor-in-duty is immediately  alarmed. He visits the patient  at his/her home, or in the hotel-room. Each SOS doctor speaks minimum two foreign languages, so there is no language-barrier. The doctor makes a diagnosis and begins the therapy. The doctor brings some medicines with him, so the initial doses of medicines usually are at hand.

If the patient needs hospitalisation or specialist, our doctor will arrange it.

Our doctors are familiar with the actual hospitals-in-duty, and refer the patient to the most appropriate hospital available. If an ambulance transport is necessary, the SOS ambulances are available. Performing a „rendezvous” system, SOS ambulance’s crew and  SOS doctor meet at the patient’s bedside and take him/her to the hospital. Our doctor will manage the admission procedure as well.

Meanwhile the Alarmcentre’s operator keeps contact with the Insurance Company of the patient.

If the insurance covers the visit fee, SOS accepts the company’s guarantee-of-payment.

Otherwise the patient will have an official cash-payment invoice, and the fee for the service will be reimbursed by the Insurance company at home.
